Imperial Inn at 490 West MacArthur Boulevard, Oakland, California.

Decent place, clean room and comfy clean bed so, for the money, I've got no complaints.
I particularly liked the fact that they installed wooden or similar floors in the room instead of carpet / ceramic floor on the bath area and Marble table tops all over.

I've stayed at the Imperial Inn a few times now. I've had both good and not so good experiences at this hotel. Usually rooms are quiet since they face away from the street. They have a fountain in the courtyard, which ends up offering a good amount of white noise for covering up the sounds of people walking by and the general hub bub of the city. There's a wonderful bagel place within a 5 minute walk of the hotel, which is great for breakfast. The major issue I have is with the hotel staff. Not that they're rude, but sometimes they don't communicate well with guests. The main issue I've had with them is that the second time I stayed here the room had a bad smell. In order to fix it they brought an ozone machine to our room. The staff member turned it on and then went to leave the room. I thought in the past someone said that everyone has to leave the room because it's really bad for your health to be around it when it's running. With this thought in my mind, I asked the staff member if it was safe for me to finish up getting ready for dinner with it running in my room, to which he responded with a resounding YES, so I continued to be in the room. Within a few minutes I felt an odd texture on my lips and I began to feel an irritation in my lungs. That was enough I needed to decide I shouldn't remain there. I left, but I could imagine someone with less sensitive lungs, say a a long time smoker, may have remained in the room, which could have had significant negative effects on their health. With this one issue in mind, I've slept great every time I've stayed here.
